There are so many commercials and magazine ads for new and improved acne treatments every day. Every time you turn of the TV you're pretty much guaranteed to see at the very least one acne treatment commercial and if you're really lucky (note the sarcasm) you'll see one of their competitor's commercials and so on and so forth. Many of these advertisements claim that their product is the "best", stating that it contains some awesome new ingredient that clears up acne "overnight" or "in a matter of days". The trouble with many of these acne treatments is that they're not the best; in fact they're the worst.
Just because some rock star or A List actress says that the so-called best acne treatment cleared their skin up doesn't necessarily mean it's so. Remember that they got paid a lot of money to be in that magazine ad or on that commercial. If you actually take a look at the ingredient list of the numerous different kinds of acne treatments you see ads for, you'll notice a long list of chemical names that are too hard to pronounce, artificial colors and synthetic fragrances. All too often these chemicals can cause negative reactions in the skin that in my opinion are much worse than having acne itself.
Benzoyl Peroxide is a common key ingredient in many of the "best" acne creams and although for some people it has provided some relief, for most it does not come without irritating side effects like peeling, redness, swelling and inflammation, which just so happens to be one of the leading causes of acne break outs. Benzoyl has also been found to cause free radicals in the skin as well as being linked to tumor growth in lab mice. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is another common ingredient found in everything from acne treatments to shampoos. A documented carcinogen, SLS is used as a foaming agent in soaps and acne cleansers, as well as being a key ingredient in engine degreasers and floor cleaners.
If you really want to find the best acne treatment, don't expect to find it in the tabloids or in MTV, do your research. The best acne treatments are always going to be made out of the highest quality organic ingredients on the market like Resveratrol. Resveratrol is harvested from the skin of grapes and in an Oxford University study was shown to kill acne causing bacteria more effectively than the leading products made with Benzoyl and without causing any negative side effects.
Another thing you need to be aware of when trying to reduce acne is calming inflammation; one of the main causes of breakouts. Organic ingredients like Chamomile and Shea Butter are world renowned for their anti inflammatory and healing properties.
If you want to find the best acne treatment read acne treatment reviews, consult a dermatologist or talk to friends and family and see if any of them can help to point you in the right direction of the best acne treatment for you. Remember to always thoroughly research a product before putting it on your skin and stay clear of products that are made with the chemical additives. When it comes to treating your acne don't listen to what the celebrities and clever advertisements have to say, listen to the ingredients and how they'll react with your skin.
